The SGS 04007 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of metals, plastics, and composites in CNC and manual machining applications. With a 0.075 inch cutting diameter and a 0.225 inch length of cut, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in tight geometries. The micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and edge retention well above standard grades. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.125 inch straight cylindrical shank, it mounts directly in standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for finish and semi-finish milling passes where tight dimensional control is required. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, giving the operator flexibility in toolpath strategy without a pre-drilled starting hole. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Its compact diameter makes it appropriate for fine-feature work, engraving paths, and narrow slot milling in mold work, prototype machining, and aerospace component production.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling solution for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.125 inch straight shank, Series 1610 designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention nut per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before use, and verify runout with a dial indicator when tolerances are critical.
