The SGS 02671 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and hard materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it delivers high heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting applications. The 0.03-inch diameter with a 4-flute configuration and 30-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and a stable cut. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.125 inches in diameter, and the tool runs an overall length of 2.5 inches with a 0.24-inch length of cut. Center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry. Installation and operation are performed by machinists and toolroom professionals.
This end mill is suited for finish milling, slotting, and profiling operations in tight-tolerance environments. The extended length type and 2.5-inch overall length make it practical for reaching into deeper features while maintaining rigidity at the small 0.03-inch diameter. The AlTiN coating supports dry or semi-dry cutting at elevated speeds, reducing heat buildup at the tool-workpiece interface. Typical applications include mold work, die work, and precision component machining where small-diameter tooling and tight tolerances are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for CNC machining centers, manual mills, and toolroom equipment accepting a 0.125-inch straight shank.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the spindle and collet or chuck are fully de-energized and at rest before changing tooling. Verify collet size matches the 0.125-inch shank diameter and that the collet is properly seated and torqued per the machine manufacturer specification. At 0.03 inches diameter, this tool is fragile — avoid side loading beyond recommended parameters and confirm runout on the spindle before cutting.
