The SGS 02408 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal fabrication, machining, and general shop use. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers consistent cutting performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 0.125 inch shank diameter suits compact toolholders and smaller CNC spindles. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute geometry are standard configurations for the majority of vertical machining centers and manual mills. This tool is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production and repair environments.
The SGS 02408 is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling applications where a square shoulder and clean floor finish are required. The 4-flute design increases chip load capacity compared to 2-flute alternatives, making it a practical choice for finishing passes in steel, aluminum, and similar materials. Its compact shank size makes it appropriate for small-bore toolholders and high-speed spindle collets in both CNC and manual milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cutting tool for standard 0.125 inch collet toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. The end mill should be seated fully into the collet or toolholder and torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specification before use. Verify spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cutting geometry before starting the machine. Inspect the collet for wear or contamination prior to installation to prevent runout and premature tool failure.
