The SGS 02376 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, and high-temperature alloys. At 0.049 inches in cutting diameter with a 0.074-inch length of cut, this is a micro-geometry tool built for fine detail work, tight-tolerance slots, and profile milling. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the edge strength needed when working at this diameter. Two flutes with a 30-degree right-hand helix balance chip evacuation and rigidity in miniature cuts. Installed by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and CNC operators in production and prototype environments.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where small-diameter, high-precision cuts are required. The 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and tool holders commonly found in vertical machining centers and mini-mills. The regular-length designation and 1.5-inch overall length keep the tool stiff, reducing deflection at small diameters. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry where required. Applications include slotting, profiling, and pocket milling in precision components across aerospace, medical device, and general metalworking industries.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank with standard collet toolholding.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the collet manufacturer's specifications when seating the shank in the collet. Inspect the shank and collet bore for chips or contamination before clamping. At micro diameters, runout and tool projection are critical — verify with a dial indicator before cutting.
