The SGS 00824 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling of small-feature geometry. With a 0.018-inch cutting diameter and a 0.054-inch length of cut, this tool is built for micro-milling applications where dimensional accuracy is critical. The micrograin carbide construction delivers the hardness and edge integrity required for tight-tolerance work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern. This end mill fits single-end milling setups requiring a small-diameter tool with a straight cylindrical shank. The 0.125-inch shank diameter fits standard collet systems, and the 1.5-inch overall length keeps the tool rigid during operation. The 2-flute, right-hand cutting and right-hand spiral configuration is suited for plunge entry and slot milling in confined features. It is a centercutting tool, allowing direct plunge into the material without pre-drilling. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet and torque the collet nut to the machine manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as micro-diameter carbide tools are brittle and susceptible to breakage if run-out is not minimized.
