The SGS 00448 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in tight-tolerance applications. With a 0.01-inch cutting diameter and a 0.03-inch length of cut, this tool is built for micro-milling work where dimensional accuracy is critical. The 2-flute, single-end configuration paired with a 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for consistent performance in hardened or abrasive workpiece materials. The uncoated finish suits applications where coating interaction with the workpiece is a concern.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and high-speed spindle setups performing fine-detail work in mold making, die work, medical component manufacturing, and precision instrument production. The 1/8-inch shank diameter fits standard collets widely used on vertical machining centers and CNC routers. The Series 1625 regular-length geometry is appropriate for shallow-pocket and contour milling passes where tool deflection must be minimized. Machinists and toolroom operators working with ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, plastics, and composites will find this tool applicable to finish-pass and semi-finish work at micro scales.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement-grade solid carbide ball end mill suitable for CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles accepting a 1/8-inch shank collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet and tighten to the collet manufacturer's specified procedure. At micro diameters, verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cutting pass, as even minor misalignment will affect tool life and surface finish.
