The SGS 00414 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling of metals, plastics, and composite materials. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers rigidity and wear resistance in demanding cutting applications. The 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch) cutting diameter and 1/16 inch (0.0625 inch) length of cut make this a stub-length tool suited for tight-tolerance work in confined areas. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill for slotting, profiling, and finishing passes where dimensional accuracy is critical.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where small-diameter, short-reach tooling is required. The stub length configuration minimizes deflection, making it appropriate for high-precision finishing cuts in hard or abrasive materials. The bright uncoated finish suits general-purpose applications where a specific coating is not required or where the base carbide substrate is preferred for the workpiece material. It is a single-end tool with a straight cylindrical 1/8 inch shank compatible with standard collet systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with collet systems accepting a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of the SGS Series 1820 stub-length end mill family.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists following established tool-change procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet to the recommended engagement depth and torque the collet nut according to the collet manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as micro-diameter carbide tools are brittle and susceptible to breakage if deflected or improperly held.
