The SGS 00366 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. Built on the Series 1620 platform, it features a 0.1-inch cutting diameter with a 0.15-inch length of cut and a 1/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. The micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention needed for tight-tolerance work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 30-degree helix angle and two right-hand spiral flutes, this stub-length end mill delivers efficient chip evacuation and controlled cutting forces. It is centercutting, making it capable of plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals, it is sold individually with no minimum order requirement beyond a single unit.
This end mill is suited for fine detail milling, slot cutting, and profiling operations where a small-diameter tool is required. The stub length format provides added rigidity compared to standard or long-series end mills, making it a practical choice for applications that demand dimensional accuracy in shallow pockets and narrow slots. The bright, uncoated finish makes it straightforward to inspect for wear. Typical use cases include CNC machining centers and manual mills working in aluminum, brass, steel, and similar materials at appropriate speeds and feeds for 0.1-inch carbide tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in the SGS Series 1620 family, compatible with standard 1/8-inch collets and tool holders on CNC machining centers and conventional mills.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine fully powered down and spindle at a complete stop. Secure the straight cylindrical shank in a clean, properly sized 1/8-inch collet or end mill holder, torquing to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges under magnification before use — chips or micro-fractures on a 0.1-inch diameter tool are not always visible to the naked eye. Consult published speeds-and-feeds data for micrograin carbide at this diameter before programming cuts.
