The SGS 00306 is a square end mill designed for precision micro-milling operations in demanding shop environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this tool delivers consistent performance at extremely small cutting diameters. The mill measures 0.01 inches in diameter with a 0.015-inch length of cut, a 1/8-inch straight cylindrical shank, and a 1.5-inch overall length. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation while maintaining edge integrity at micro scales. With centercutting capability, this end mill can plunge directly into workpiece material, giving machinists flexibility in toolpath programming. It is uncoated and suited for high-precision finishing and slotting passes where dimensional accuracy is critical.
This stub-length end mill fits applications where minimal tool overhang is required for rigidity. It is used in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindle setups for cutting small features, slots, and contours in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 0.01-inch diameter makes it appropriate for fine detail work in mold and die, medical device, and electronics component machining. Two right-hand spiral flutes with right-hand cutting direction are standard for conventional CNC milling operations. The micrograin carbide grade supports high-RPM operation with reduced deflection at this tool diameter.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and precision milling setups accepting a 1/8-inch straight shank collet. Part of the SGS Series 1620 stub-length square end mill line.
This tool is installed and removed by a qualified machinist using an appropriate collet or end mill holder rated for the 1/8-inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. At 0.01-inch diameter, this end mill is extremely fragile — verify runout on the toolholder is within specification before operation, as excess runout will cause immediate tool breakage. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for feeds, speeds, and depth of cut at this diameter.
