The SGS 00305 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision micro-milling operations requiring tight tolerances and a fine finish. With a 0.009-inch cutting diameter and a 0.014-inch length of cut, this tool is built for small-feature work in hardened and abrasive materials where carbide rigidity is essential. The micrograin carbide substrate resists chipping at these extremely small diameters, making it suitable for detailed slot milling, pocket work, and profiling in tool and die, moldmaking, and aerospace component manufacturing. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary users of this end mill.
This stub-length end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where minimal tool overhang is required to maintain rigidity at micro diameters. The 0.009-inch cutting diameter makes it appropriate for fine-feature work in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, composites, and engineering plastics. Applications include micro-slotting, engraving, and small-diameter profiling where tool deflection must be minimized. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.125 inches diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and precision end mill holders commonly found in production and prototype machining environments.
Designed as a Series 1620 stub-length square end mill compatible with standard straight-cylindrical collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 0.125-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Inspect the cutting edge under magnification prior to use, as micro-diameter carbide tools are susceptible to edge chipping during handling.
