The SERVICE METAL 3mshp01.5 is a forged carbon steel square head plug designed to close off threaded pipe ends in high-pressure piping systems. Manufactured to ASTM A105/ASME SA105 material specification and conforming to ASME B16.11 and ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 standards, this plug delivers reliable performance in demanding industrial and commercial applications. The male NPT threaded end connection allows straightforward installation into female-threaded fittings, valves, or pipe ends. With an overall length of 1.438 inches and a width across flat of 1.125 inches, it is sized for 1.5-inch nominal pipe. Weighing 0.82 pounds, this fitting is a solid, code-compliant solution for licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on pressurized systems.
This square head plug is suited for use in commercial and industrial piping systems where a positive pipe-end seal is required. Typical applications include closing unused branch outlets on headers, capping test points, and sealing off pipe runs during phased construction or maintenance. The forged carbon steel construction makes it appropriate for use in steam, water, oil, and gas service where the applicable system design and code requirements permit. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style forged steel pipe plug for use in 1.5-inch female NPT threaded fittings, valves, and pipe ends on systems governed by ASME B16.11 and ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes. Depressurize and isolate the pipe system fully before installing or removing any threaded plug. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before engagement, and tighten using a properly sized wrench on the square head. Do not use pipe wrenches directly on the body in a way that could deform the fitting or damage the thread form.
