The SECO 74077628 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying manufacturer part number OFEX05T305TN-ME07 and grade F40M, designed for use in indexable face and shoulder milling cutters. The insert features an octagon shape with 8 cutting edges, a neutral hand orientation, and a positive rake angle of 18 degrees for efficient chip evacuation. A dual-layer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection across a range of demanding workpiece materials. At 0.1484 inches thick with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, this insert fits the compact OFEX-05 series tooling platform used by machinists and toolroom professionals in production environments.
This insert is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The ME07 chip breaker geometry is optimized for general-purpose roughing and semi-finishing passes where controlled chip formation and edge stability are priorities. It is appropriate for use in both horizontal and vertical machining centers handling a broad spectrum of workpiece materials encountered in aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing applications. Each package contains 1 insert; minimum order quantity is 10 units.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.43-05 and R220.43-05 as stated by the manufacturer. Verify cutter body and pocket geometry against current SECO tooling documentation before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the milling cutter body is removed from the spindle or the machine is powered down and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or wrench specified by the cutter body manufacturer for the insert clamping screw to prevent seat damage or screw failure. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or contamination before seating a new insert.
