The SECO 74077373 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert in the SPGX09C1 T400D specification, designed for use in Perfomax series indexable drills. The insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle and an 11-degree relief angle, providing a stable cutting geometry suited to high-productivity drilling operations. A PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation at the cutting edge. With a 0.375-inch (9.53 mm) inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.125 inches, this insert is sized for the 09 insert-size seat. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians maintaining Perfomax drill bodies.
This insert carries a Universal primary workpiece material designation, covering material grades H, K, M, N, P, and S. That range encompasses cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, general steels, heat-resistant superalloys, and similar materials. It is suited to both production-floor CNC drilling operations and general-purpose machining environments where a single insert grade must handle varied workpiece materials across a job shop or manufacturing cell.
Designed for use in SECO Perfomax series indexable drill bodies accepting SPGX 09 insert seats.
Insert seating and torquing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the drill body is fully removed from the spindle and the machine is locked out before changing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the drill body manufacturer for the clamping screw, and inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Do not exceed the clamping torque recommended in the drill body documentation.
