The SECO 74069376 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation APKX1604PDR-ME12 in manufacturer grade F40M. This parallelogram-style, right-hand insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual-layer coating over a fine-grain carbide substrate. It runs a positive rake angle of 24 degrees and a relief angle of 11 degrees, delivering clean shear action and reduced cutting forces. With two cutting edges and a honed edge style, it is engineered for productive material removal in face milling and shoulder milling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC mill operators install this insert as part of indexable tooling systems.
This insert is suited for both roughing and finishing passes across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The ME12 chip breaker geometry manages chip flow effectively across these material groups, making it a versatile choice for job shops and production environments running mixed-material schedules. It is intended for use in right-hand cutter bodies at depths of cut up to 0.622 inches.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16 indexable milling bodies. Conforms to ISO standard designation APKX1604PDR-ME12.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the cutter body is secured and the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before removing or seating inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to achieve proper screw torque without stripping the insert pocket. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh edge to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature insert failure.
