The SECO 74069133 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation OFEX05T305N-M05 in manufacturer grade F30M. It is an octagon-shaped, single-sided insert with 8 cutting edges and a neutral rake and hand orientation. The substrate is micrograin solid carbide finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating for extended wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 0.5 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.1484 inches thick, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.1929 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.2075 inches. Machinists and CNC tooling specialists install this insert in compatible SECO face and shoulder milling cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for universal material applications with primary compatibility across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, and H. It carries a chip breaker designation of M05, which targets medium cutting conditions in those material groups. Typical use is in production milling environments on machining centers and CNC mills where consistent edge life and reliable chip control across multiple workpiece materials are required. The OFEX-05 series format positions it for both facing and shoulder milling operations.
Confirmed compatible cutter series: R217.43-05 and R220.43-05. These are SECO milling cutter bodies designed for the OFEX-05 insert series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before seating or replacing inserts, the cutter body must be removed from the spindle and the machine powered down and locked out per applicable LOTO procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified seating method when driving the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert, and confirm the insert is fully seated before returning the cutter to service.
