The SECO 74068306 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation OFER070405N-E07 in manufacturer grade F15M. The insert is octagon-shaped with a neutral hand orientation and features a positive rake angle of 20 degrees, providing efficient cutting geometry for hard material applications. A physical vapor deposition (PVD) dual-layer TiAlN and TiN coating protects the fine-grain carbide substrate and extends edge life under demanding conditions. With 8 cutting edges per insert and a honed cutting edge style, this insert delivers consistent performance across multiple indexing cycles. It is held in the cutter body via wedge clamp and is compatible with the R220.43-07 cutter series.
This insert is designed for milling hard materials (ISO material code H) as the primary application, with secondary suitability for cast iron (K) and non-ferrous metals (N). It is intended for use in industrial milling operations where close tolerances, edge consistency, and coating durability are required. The E07 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during face and shoulder milling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in precision manufacturing, toolroom environments, and production milling settings are the typical end users.
Designed for use with the SECO R220.43-07 cutter series. The insert size code is 070405 and the series designation is OFER-07. Conforms to ISO standards with ANSI/ISO code OFER070405N-E07.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician following the cutter body manufacturer's seating and torque procedures for wedge clamp insert systems. Ensure the cutter body is fully de-energized and secured before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the pocket seat and wedge clamp for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
