The SECO 74068305 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation OFER070405TN-ME15 and manufacturer grade T25M. It features an octagonal shape with 8 cutting edges, a TiCN coating applied via CVD process, and a positive rake angle of 16 degrees. The insert measures 0.7063 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.1795 inches thick, with a corner radius of 0.0197 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.2795 inches. The ME15 chip breaker geometry and T-Land cutting edge style are engineered for controlled chip formation in demanding milling operations. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals, this insert is held in place by a wedge clamp mechanism in compatible milling cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is designed for use in the OFER-07 series and is compatible with the R220.43-07 cutter series. The single-sided, neutral-hand design with a 135-degree included angle and positive rake makes it appropriate for face milling and shoulder milling applications where consistent chip evacuation and edge life in difficult-to-machine materials are priorities. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with the SECO R220.43-07 cutter series. Insert series designation is OFER-07. ANSI and ISO code OFER070405TN-ME15 can be used to cross-reference compatibility with other toolholders accepting this insert geometry and size code 070405.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians following standard indexable insert procedures. Always disengage the machine spindle and lock out power before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or wedge clamp key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the insert to ensure proper clamping force without over-torquing the pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new edge.
