The SECO 74066081 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation SONX09T304TR-ME06, designed for use in indexable milling cutters in demanding metal-removal operations. It features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, four usable cutting edges, and a positive rake geometry at 22 degrees with a T-Land cutting edge style. The ME06 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation. A PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating improves wear resistance and heat tolerance during high-speed passes. The insert is right-hand, single-sided, and held in place by screw clamping. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing install this insert type.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Primary material application codes are P, K, and S per ISO classification, with secondary compatibility covering K and N codes. It is compatible with the R220.99-09 cutter series. The insert fits applications where a positive rake, fine-grain carbide substrate, and PVD coating are required for controlled chip formation and edge stability across varying workpiece hardness levels and cut depths up to 0.315 inches.

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw per the cutter body manufacturer's specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh insert edge.
