The SECO 74053362 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the TPG322F 890 series, designed for precision turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. This neutral-hand insert features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The flat-top chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge style support stable performance in demanding cutting applications. With three available cutting edges and a positive rake configuration, it is well suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent tool life and edge integrity are critical.
This insert is primarily intended for machining superalloys and titanium, making it a fit for aerospace, energy, and precision manufacturing applications. It also carries secondary workpiece material ratings for steel, cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials. Typical uses include back turning, boring, facing, and general turning. The flat-top geometry and uncoated substrate are particularly appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes where edge sharpness and surface finish are priorities. It is held by a clamp-style toolholder and conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO code of TPGN160308.
Designed for use with clamp-style TPG-series toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert (insert size code 322). Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards, compatible with ANSI- and ISO-designated TPG insert seats. ISO equivalent designation is TPGN160308.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using the appropriate clamp-style TPG toolholder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp to manufacturer-specified torque. Inspect the cutting edge and pocket for chips or debris before securing to prevent premature edge failure or insert rocking.
