The SECO 74043728 is a solid carbide, uncoated profiling insert in the RCGS style, designed for turning and profiling operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a round shape with a 360-degree included angle, a 3/16 inch (0.1874 inch) inscribed circle diameter, and a thickness of 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch). The insert uses a positive rake geometry with a 7-degree relief angle and chipbreaker style 46, supporting up to 4 cutting edges per insert. It is held using a clamp or pin method and is classified under the T-Lock series. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers select this insert for precision finish and semi-finish cuts on demanding workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for profiling and turning applications in both production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to material codes N, S, and H. Secondary workpiece compatibility extends to universal material groups H, K, M, and N. The maximum depth of cut is 0.0937 inch, and the corner radius is 0.0937 inch, making it appropriate for light to moderate material removal with emphasis on contour accuracy. It is sold in individual pieces with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with T-Lock series toolholders accepting RCGS-style round inserts. ISO code RCGS4.76-46; standards RCGS1.5F-46 and RCGS4.76-46 apply. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamping screw or pin. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris or damage before placing the new insert, and confirm edge orientation matches the intended cutting direction.
