Product Description

The SECO 74034329 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation APKX160416R-ME12, designed for use in indexable milling cutters in metalworking and machining applications. The insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a positive rake angle of 24 degrees, and a TiCN coating applied via CVD process. The ME12 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of cutting conditions. At 0.2232 inches thick with a cutting edge effective length of 0.6598 inches and a corner radius of 0.0630 inches, this is a right-hand, single-sided insert held in place by screw clamping. It is intended for installation by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC milling operations.

This insert is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering material application codes P, M, and S. The positive rake and honed cutting edge style make it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where edge integrity and surface finish are priorities. The T25M grade with CVD TiCN coating provides wear resistance appropriate for these demanding workpiece materials. It is packaged individually and sold in multiples of 10.

Key Features

  • ANSI and ISO code APKX160416R-ME12 for direct cross-reference sourcing
  • T25M manufacturer grade with CVD-applied TiCN coating for wear resistance on steel and superalloys
  • Positive rake angle of 24 degrees with honed cutting edge style for clean, controlled cuts
  • ME12 chip breaker geometry designed for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium
  • Right-hand, single-sided parallelogram insert with screw holding method
  • Maximum depth of cut of 0.6220 inches with 2 cutting edges per insert

Compatibility

Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16 as specified by the manufacturer.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using the appropriate torx or hex key for the clamping screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool confirmed non-rotating before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Do not overtighten the clamping screw beyond the torque value specified in the cutter body documentation.
