The SECO 74030811 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNGP series, designated by industry standard number CNGP431F-MF1 and manufactured in grade 890. It features an 80-degree diamond (C-shape) insert geometry with a negative rake angle and a sharp cutting edge style. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, insert thickness is 0.1874 inches, and insert length is 0.5079 inches. With an uncoated (bright) finish and the MF1 chip breaker geometry, this insert is engineered for precision metal removal in demanding machining operations. It is compatible with clamp, pin, and lever lock holding methods. Each order ships in single-piece packaging with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
This insert is designed for boring, facing, and turning operations with a primary focus on superalloys and titanium workpiece materials (ISO material code S). Secondary material compatibility includes steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and hardened materials (H). The MF1 chip breaker geometry supports light to medium finishing cuts where controlled chip formation is critical. Typical applications include aerospace component machining and other high-performance turning environments where tool life and edge consistency are essential. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible use across a range of toolholder configurations.
Designed for use in CNGP-series toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 80-degree diamond insert with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding. Meets ANSI and ISO dimensional standards. ISO equivalent insert code is CNGG120404-MF1. Material grades S10 and S20 correspond to superalloys and titanium per ISO classification.
Installation of turning inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, energy-isolated state per applicable safety procedures. Seat the insert fully against all pocket walls and torque the clamp or locking screw according to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as foreign material will cause premature edge failure or pocket damage. Dispose of worn inserts properly, as carbide edges remain sharp and pose a laceration hazard.
