The SECO 74030637 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation APKX1604PDR-ME12, manufactured in grade F30M with a micrograin carbide substrate. The insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating for extended tool life in demanding milling applications. It is a single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert (APKX style) with a positive rake angle of 24 degrees, a relief angle of 11 degrees, and two cutting edges per insert. The ME12 chip breaker geometry supports efficient chip evacuation across a range of depths of cut up to 0.6220 inches. Cutting edge style is honed for a controlled, consistent edge. This insert is held in the toolholder via screw clamping.
This insert is designed for milling operations on stainless steel and steel as primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for cast iron and hard materials. The positive rake geometry and PVD coating make it well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing cuts where surface integrity and edge stability matter. It is sized for size-16 insert pockets and is compatible with Seco cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16. Typical users include machining professionals and CNC operators in job shop and production environments working with ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys.
Compatible with Seco cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16. Designed for size-16 APKX insert pockets accepting right-hand parallelogram inserts. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by machining professionals or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification using the correct Torx or hex key. Inspect the pocket seat and screw threads for wear or contamination before installing a new insert.
