The SECO 74018666 is a TCMT-style triangular turning insert designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the industry standard designation TCMT32.52-F2 and is manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiC, TiCN, and TiN. The TP40 manufacturer grade targets steel and stainless steel applications where edge toughness and wear resistance are both required. The F2 chip breaker geometry provides a positive rake angle and a honed cutting edge, supporting stable chip formation across a range of depths of cut. The insert seats in screw-lock toolholders and offers three usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is suited for external turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand TCMT screw-on toolholders used in most CNC and manual turning applications. The ISO code equivalent is TCMT16T308-F2, which is useful when cross-referencing with toolholder catalogs or international procurement systems. Material grades P40, M35, and M40 indicate coverage across medium to heavy interrupted and continuous cuts on carbon steel and austenitic stainless steel. This insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, ensuring dimensional interchangeability within the TCMT insert family.
Designed for use in TCMT screw-lock turning toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO material code P) and stainless steel (ISO material code M). ISO equivalent designation is TCMT16T308-F2. Material grades P40, M35, and M40 apply.
Installation is performed by machining technicians using the appropriate TCMT screw-lock toolholder and a torx or hex key to secure the clamp screw. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination affects edge repeatability. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque for the insert screw.
