The SECO 74018662 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT-F2 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. It carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN and is manufactured to the TP40 grade, making it well suited for moderate to heavy interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the F2 chip breaker geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, and back-turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. It is held in place by screw clamping and fits toolholders designed for DCMT-style inserts. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.4252 inches and an insert length of 0.9134 inches, it handles both roughing and semi-finishing passes. The multilayer CVD coating extends tool life when cutting P-category and M-category workpiece materials under production conditions.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-clamping toolholders. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; the ISO equivalent designation is DCMT11T308-F2. Primary workpiece material codes are P (steel) and M (stainless steel).
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw and seat the insert fully against the pocket pocket locating surfaces before tightening. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris that could affect insert seating and dimensional accuracy.
