The SECO 74018660 is a DCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the industry standard designation DCMT32.51-F2 and the ISO code DCMT11T304-F2. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, placing it in the TP40 manufacturer grade. With a 55-degree diamond insert shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch (0.0157 inch) corner radius, it is built for general-purpose turning, facing, boring, and back turning. The F2 chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge style support consistent chip control across a range of feed and depth conditions.
This insert is intended for machining steel and stainless steel workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P and M. It is suited to material grades P40, M35, and M40. Typical applications include production turning on CNC equipment in job shop and manufacturing environments. The insert uses screw holding and a positive rake geometry, making it compatible with standard DCMT screw-on toolholders. It provides two usable cutting edges per insert and supports a maximum depth of cut of 0.4409 inches.
Designed for use in standard DCMT screw-on turning toolholders. Suitable for steel and stainless steel workpiece materials (ISO material codes P and M). Compatible with material grades P40, M35, and M40. Multi-use applications include back turning, boring, facing, and turning.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before each insert change to maintain proper seating and dimensional accuracy.
