The SECO 74018656 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-F2 series, designed for precision finishing operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. It carries an ANSI insert code of CCMT32.51 and an ISO insert code of CCMT09T304. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating consisting of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, which provides high toughness on steel and stainless steel and moderate wear resistance on hardened materials. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape and positive rake geometry contribute to clean, controlled chip formation during finishing cuts.
This insert is rated for boring, facing, and turning applications. It is suited for finish-pass work on steel (P-grade), stainless steel (M-grade), and hardened materials (H-grade) in both manual and CNC lathe environments. The F2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations, delivering consistent surface finish at controlled depth of cut. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production turning cells, or maintenance machining will find this insert applicable across a wide range of common workpiece materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or equivalent for CCMT32.51-F2 toolholders accepting standard screw-lock CCMT inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 7-degree relief angle.
Insert replacement and seating should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder specification. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut for this insert grade and chip breaker combination.
