The SECO 74018469 is a CNMG 431-M3 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN. Carrying the TP40 manufacturer grade, it is engineered for general-purpose turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The insert features a negative rake geometry, an 80-degree diamond shape, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With four usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers consistent performance across high-volume production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in precision machining shops are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is suited for medium to roughing-grade turning applications on steel (ISO P40) and stainless steel (ISO M35, M40) materials in both production and job-shop environments. The M3 chip breaker geometry is designed to control chip formation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut up to 0.4921 inches. It is compatible with neutral-hand toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods, making it adaptable across a wide variety of standard CNMG toolholder configurations. Boring, facing, and turning operations are all supported within a single insert style.

Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamping screw — do not over-tighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and runout.
