The SECO 74017130 is a carbide end replaceable milling tip designed for the Minimaster MM12 modular milling system. It features a 0.551-inch cutting diameter, a maximum depth of cut of 0.366 inches, and a 2-flute right-hand configuration. The tip carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process and is manufactured to a T60M grade with an MD05 chipbreaker geometry. It mounts with a 90-degree lead angle and a 0.031-inch corner radius. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC toolroom technicians working with modular end mill systems that require quick tip changes without removing the full tool body from the machine.
This milling tip is suited for slotting operations across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its functional length of 0.443 inches and 11.26 mm extension geometry make it appropriate for shallow-to-medium-depth slotting passes on both CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. The MM12 series is a common platform in production and job-shop environments where operators need repeatable tip indexing with consistent runout.
Designed for use with Minimaster MM12 series modular milling holders. The full tip designation is MM12-0.551-R2-MD05. Insert size is 0.551-R2. Coolant-through is not supported by this tip.
This tip is installed by trained machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with modular milling systems. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before removing or seating the milling tip. Use the correct torque key or wrench specified by the holder manufacturer to seat the tip — do not overtighten by hand or with non-specified tools. Inspect the mating taper and seating surfaces on the holder for chips or wear before each tip change to maintain runout accuracy.
