The SECO 74017057 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation SCET120612T-M14 in manufacturer grade T25M. It features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style that aids in edge stability during interrupted cuts. The insert is CVD-coated with TiCN for extended wear resistance and is manufactured from medium-grain solid carbide. With four cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it is suited for productive face and shoulder milling operations. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert on compatible milling cutter bodies.
This insert is designed for milling applications in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The M14 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-duty cutting conditions in those material groups. It fits cutter series R217.59-12 and R220.59-12 as specified by SECO. Typical use cases include face milling, shoulder milling, and slotting operations in production machining environments where consistent chip control across a range of workpiece materials is required. The insert is screw-held and single-sided.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.59-12 and R220.59-12. Rated for use on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials. Insert holding method is screw-on; confirm cutter body accepts SCET-12 series inserts before ordering.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians using the appropriate torx or hex key for the screw-clamp system on the cutter body. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or rotating inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert. Do not mix used and new inserts on the same cutter body, as this can create uneven cutting loads.
