The SECO 74017048 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation APFT160440R-M13. It is engineered for use in indexable milling cutters where consistent edge performance across steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium is required. The insert features a TiCN coating applied via CVD process and is manufactured to the T25M grade, a medium-grain carbide grade suited for moderate-to-demanding milling conditions. With a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a honed cutting edge style, it delivers controlled chip formation and reduced cutting forces. This insert is intended for use in production and job-shop milling operations targeting steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S) workpiece materials. It is designed for right-hand cutting applications and fits within the APFT-16 insert series. The M13 chip breaker geometry supports medium-depth milling passes. Compatible cutter series include the R217.69-16 and R220.69-16 milling cutter bodies, as stated by the manufacturer. It is a single-sided insert held in place by a screw-type clamping method.
