The SECO 74017046 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI/ISO designation APFT160424R-M13 and manufactured to grade T25M. It features a CVD-applied TiCN coating over a medium-grain carbide substrate and is designed for use in positive-rake face milling and shoulder milling operations. The parallelogram insert shape, 85-degree included angle, and honed cutting edge geometry reduce cutting forces and improve surface finish on difficult-to-machine workpieces. With two cutting edges per insert and a screw-in holding method, it is suited for production milling environments where tool change efficiency matters. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary end users.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering workpiece material codes P, M, and S. It fits cutter bodies in the R217.69-16 and R220.69-16 series, making it appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes in those platforms. The M13 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-feed cutting strategies on the materials listed. Typical applications include aerospace component machining, general metalworking production runs, and maintenance shops running SECO APFT-16 series toolholders.
Compatible with SECO cutter body series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16. Designated by ANSI and ISO code APFT160424R-M13. Fits toolholders in the APFT-16 series accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.1772-inch hole diameter.
Insert seating and screw torque should follow the cutter body manufacturer service instructions for the R217.69-16 or R220.69-16 platform. Ensure the spindle and machine are fully powered down and locked out before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw threads for damage before installation. Do not mix insert grades or chip breaker styles within a single cutter body, as this can cause uneven load distribution and premature edge failure.
