The SECO 74017031 is a carbide end replaceable milling tip designed for the Minimaster MM12 modular milling system. It features a 0.472 inch cutting diameter, a maximum depth of cut of 0.323 inches, and a TiAlN PVD coating for extended tool life in demanding applications. The insert is a right-hand cut, two-flute design with a 90-degree lead angle and an MD05 chipbreaker geometry. This tip is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians as a fast-change cutting head on compatible MM12 shank holders, eliminating the need to change out the full tool assembly during production runs.
The 74017031 is suited for slotting operations across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It carries material grade designations P, M, K, N, S, and H, making it applicable in both general machining and high-performance production environments. The functional length is 0.401 inches, and the corner radius is 0.031 inches. This tip is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 2 units.

This milling tip is installed and replaced by machinists or toolroom personnel following the tool manufacturer torque and engagement procedures for the MM12 holder. Always de-energize and lock out the machine spindle before changing cutting inserts. Inspect the holder seating surface and thread for damage before installing a new tip. Follow the machine tool builder and insert manufacturer guidelines for appropriate cutting parameters for the workpiece material being machined.
