The SECO 74016603 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to Series 150.10 toolholder compatibility, it carries a T25M manufacturer grade and is finished with a CVD-applied TiC/TiCN/TiN multilayer coating that supports extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 0.2-inch cutting width, a 0.01-inch corner radius, and a neutral lead angle with zero relief angle. It is clamp-held, single-ended, and sized with an overall length of 0.354 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for cut-off applications on universal workpiece materials, making it a practical choice for both ferrous and general-purpose turning work. The chipbreaker designation is 16, which supports chip control during straight parting cuts. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand or symmetric toolholder setups. It is appropriate for production environments where consistent parting width and repeatable chip evacuation are required.
Designed for use with Series 150.10 clamp-style cutoff toolholders. Verify that the toolholder accepts a size code 5 insert with a 0.2-inch cutting width before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Ensure the clamp mechanism is tightened to the toolholder manufacturer's specification and that the insert is fully seated against the pocket locating surfaces. Inspect the pocket for chips or debris before clamping, as contamination can cause insert tilt and premature breakage.
