The SECO 74016521 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. This single-end insert features a 0.161 inch cutting width and a 0.009 inch corner radius, with a right-hand lead angle of 6 degrees. The T25M manufacturer grade carbide substrate is finished with a CVD-applied TiC/TiCN/TiN multilayer coating, providing thermal resistance and edge durability during interrupted or continuous parting cuts. Chipbreaker designation is 16. The overall insert length is 0.354 inches. It is held in the toolholder via a clamp-style insert holding method.
This insert is suited for OD parting and cutoff applications across a broad range of metalworking operations, classified for universal primary workpiece material compatibility with a material grade of C5. It is intended for use in Series 150.10 compatible toolholders. Typical installation scenarios include CNC lathe and turning center parting operations in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials will find this insert appropriate for general parting work.
