The SECO 74016468 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the manufacturer part number APFT1604PDR-M12 and grade designation T25M. This single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert features a CVD-applied TiCN coating over a medium grain carbide substrate, delivering the hardness and thermal resistance required for productive face and shoulder milling operations. With two cutting edges, a positive 15-degree rake angle, and a honed cutting edge style, the insert promotes lower cutting forces and clean chip formation. The 0.0315-inch corner radius and M12 chip breaker geometry suit a range of material removal rates in milling applications. Installation and tool change are handled by machinist-level tooling personnel using a screw clamping method.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. It is designed for use in shoulder and face milling applications where controlled chip breaking and consistent edge geometry are critical. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not over-torque. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout control.
