The SECO 74016415 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation APFT1604PDTR-D15. It is a parallelogram-shaped, single-sided insert in the APFT-16 series, designed for indexable milling cutters used in metal-removal operations. The insert is coated with TiCN via CVD process, using a medium-grain carbide substrate in manufacturer grade T25M. It features a positive rake angle of 8 degrees, an 11-degree relief angle, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a D15 chip breaker geometry. Two cutting edges are available per insert. It is held in place by a screw and is right-hand oriented.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and general-purpose material removal applications. The CVD TiCN coating and medium-grain carbide substrate make it appropriate for demanding cuts in these workpiece material groups, classified under material grade codes P, M, and S. It is intended for installation by machinists and tooling specialists in CNC milling operations. Compatible cutter series include R217.69-16 and R220.69-16 milling bodies.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16. Designed for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under designation APFT1604PDTR-D15.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the screw-held insert to avoid over-torquing the mounting pocket. Inspect the cutter body pocket and seating surfaces for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
