The SECO 74016182 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in demanding machining environments. Formed to the CCMT432-F2 industry standard, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and a honed cutting edge for controlled chip formation. It carries a neutral hand orientation and provides two cutting edges per insert. The F2 chip breaker is engineered to manage chip flow during finishing and semi-finishing passes. This uncoated, bright-finish carbide insert is intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC lathes and boring machines where tight tolerances and clean surface finishes are required.
This insert is rated primarily for superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S), with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials (ISO codes M, K, N, H). It is applicable to boring, facing, and turning operations. The CCMT432-F2 geometry and 0.5-inch inscribed circle make it a practical choice for medium-depth cuts in aerospace, energy, and industrial machining where difficult-to-machine materials are common. Material grades S10, S20, and S25 are the designated carbide grades for this insert.
Compatible with CCMT-style insert toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick inserts with a screw-clamp holding method. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for CCMT432 / CCMT120408 inserts. Suitable for multi-use application across boring, facing, and turning operations.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert to maintain proper seating and cutting geometry.
