The SECO 74011987 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-F2 series, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the ANSI code CCMT32.50.5 and ISO code CCMT09T302-F2. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake and positive side clearance, a honed cutting edge, and a bright uncoated finish. With a 0.3750-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0079-inch corner radius, and a 0.1563-inch thickness, it is built for tight-tolerance finishing passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish quality are the priority. A screw-type holding method locks the insert securely in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for finishing applications including turning, boring, and facing on CNC turning centers and lathes in industrial machining environments. It is engineered for use on superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece materials, and is also rated for stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. The F2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, making this insert a practical choice for machinists and toolroom technicians working with difficult-to-machine alloys and requiring consistent chip control at light depths of cut up to 0.3740 inches.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
