The SECO 74011849 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the TCMT-F2 series, designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a triangular insert shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The F2 chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge style support stable chip control across a range of operations. With three usable cutting edges and a positive rake configuration, this insert is suited for high-performance turning in demanding material applications. It is installed using a screw-type holding method.
This insert is primarily engineered for machining superalloys and titanium, with secondary capability across steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. Typical applications include back turning, boring, facing, and general turning. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to a wide range of toolholder setups. It is used in production and job-shop environments where tight tolerances and consistent tool life on difficult-to-machine materials are required. The TCMT-F2 series conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO code of TCMT16T308-F2.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with material grades S10, S20, and S25. Suitable for back turning, boring, facing, and turning operations on superalloys, titanium, steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is properly seated and clean before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque driver for the insert screw to avoid seat damage — consult the toolholder manufacturer specification for screw torque. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp screw condition at each index to maintain cutting accuracy and operator safety.
