The SECO 74011732 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-F2 series, designed for precision finishing operations in CNC and manual turning applications. Carrying the ANSI code CCMT21.51 and ISO code CCMT060204, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake and positive side clearance. The uncoated HX grade delivers high wear resistance and toughness across a range of workpiece materials. The F2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, and the honed cutting edge style provides consistent edge integrity. Two cutting edges are available per insert, with screw-type holding for secure tool-post retention.
This insert is suited for finishing passes in turning, boring, and facing operations on superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both left- and right-hand toolholders configured for CCMT-style inserts. Typical applications include aerospace, general machining, and job-shop environments where close tolerances and surface finish quality are critical. The F2 chip breaker geometry manages chip flow effectively in light to moderate depth-of-cut scenarios, reducing tool pressure on thin-walled or difficult-to-machine components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for toolholders accepting CCMT21.51 or CCMT060204 inserts with screw-type clamping. Suitable for boring, facing, and turning applications across the material grades S10, S20, and S25. Primary workpiece material codes M, K, N, and S are supported; secondary codes M, K, N, and H also apply.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the pocket walls before tightening the clamping screw, and verify the cutting edge is properly indexed before resuming operation. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for the clamping screw — do not over-tighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate.
