The SECO 74008868 is a WNMG332-M3 series indexable turning insert designed for general-purpose metal removal operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a multilayer TiC, TiCN, and TiN stack, this insert carries the TP40 manufacturer grade and is suited for a broad range of cutting conditions. The trigon (80-degree included angle) insert shape provides six usable cutting edges, and the M3 chip breaker geometry features a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. It measures 0.375 inches on the inscribed circle with a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (1/32 inches), making it a versatile choice for moderate depths of cut up to 0.244 inches.
This insert is intended for use in CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing boring, facing, and turning operations on steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpieces. The negative rake geometry and N clearance angle suit medium to roughing applications. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under the ISO designation WNMG060408-M3. Machinists and tooling technicians working in production shops, job shops, or maintenance environments will find this insert compatible with standard WNMG toolholders. Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for WNMG-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle trigon insert with a 0.150-inch hole diameter, compatible with clamp, pin, and lever lock holding systems. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M), corresponding to material grades P40, M35, and M40.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the insert firmly in the pocket and engage the appropriate clamping mechanism before resuming any cutting operation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping hardware for wear or debris before each insert change.
