Product Description

The SECO 74003671 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation APKT1604PDTR-ME14 in manufacturer grade T25M. It is a parallelogram-style, single-sided insert with a positive rake angle of 24 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a TiCN coating applied by CVD process. The insert features two cutting edges, a corner radius of 0.0315 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.622 inches. It is held in the cutter body by a screw and is designed for right-hand cutting. Machinists and CNC operators working in production milling environments use this insert for demanding metal-removal operations.

This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and finishing contexts where a T-Land edge preparation and positive geometry are specified. The ME14 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-grain carbide substrate performance in these material groups. The CVD TiCN coating provides wear resistance and heat tolerance appropriate for the secondary workpiece material codes P, M, and S. It is compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16.

Key Features

  • APKT parallelogram insert style, insert size code 1604, series APKT-16
  • T25M grade solid carbide with medium grain substrate and CVD TiCN coating
  • Positive rake angle of 24 degrees with T-Land cutting edge for controlled chip formation
  • Two cutting edges per insert, right-hand orientation, single-sided
  • ME14 chip breaker designed for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium
  • Screw-lock insert holding method for secure seating in compatible toolholders

Compatibility

Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16. Designed for use on steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S) workpiece materials per ISO material group classification.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before replacing inserts, power down the machine and engage the spindle lock to prevent unintended rotation. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to remove and seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide body. Confirm the insert pocket is clean and free of chips before seating the new insert to ensure proper support and accurate tool-length offset.
