The SECO 74001968 is a carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries manufacturer grade T25M with a CVD-applied TiC/TiCN/TiN coating, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials. The cutting width measures 0.098 inches with a width tolerance of plus or minus 0.002 inches. Overall insert length is 0.354 inches. The neutral lead angle and neutral hand orientation make this insert straightforward to specify for standard cutoff toolholders. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop turning environments.
This insert is suited for cut-off and parting applications where consistent width control and reliable chip formation matter. It belongs to the 150.10 series and carries insert size code 2.5. The primary workpiece material classification is universal, meaning it is intended for use across common metals and alloys. Chipbreaker style 14 is integrated into the insert geometry to assist with chip management during grooving and parting passes. This product is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 10 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard insert for SECO 150.10 series cutoff and parting toolholders accepting insert size code 2.5.
Insert seating should be performed with the machine spindle stopped and all energy sources locked out per shop safety procedure. Use the appropriate insert clamp or screw torque driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Cutoff inserts are single-use; do not attempt to regrind or reindex a non-indexable geometry insert.
