The SECO 74000320 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation APKT1604PDTL-M14. It is a parallelogram-shaped, single-sided insert with a positive rake angle of 22 degrees and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert features a CVD-applied TiCN coating in the T25M manufacturer grade, targeting medium-grain carbide performance. With two cutting edges, a left-hand orientation, and a corner radius of 0.0157 inches, it is designed for face milling and shoulder milling operations. Machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this insert into compatible milling cutter bodies as a precision replaceable cutting element.
This insert is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering material grade codes P, M, and S under ISO classification. It fits standard production and job-shop milling environments where consistent tool life and surface finish on difficult materials are priorities. The M14 chip breaker geometry helps control chip evacuation during aggressive cuts. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.6220 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.6693 inches, this insert handles both roughing and semi-finishing passes in these material categories.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16. Designed as an OEM-style replaceable insert for milling cutter bodies accepting APKT-16 series inserts, secured by screw clamping.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key per the cutter body manufacturer specification to secure the clamping screw. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
