The SECO 63005952 is a rectangular cobalt tool bit blank ground to a 3/8-inch width, 1/2-inch height, and 6-inch overall length (OAL). Manufactured from WKE45-grade cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers strong hot hardness and wear resistance suitable for demanding turning, boring, and form-tool applications. Machinists and toolroom technicians use tool bit blanks as raw stock to grind custom cutting geometries for lathes and other metal-cutting equipment. The rectangular cross-section and consistent dimensions allow precise tool grinding to exacting profiles.
This tool bit blank is suited for toolroom environments, job shops, and production machining facilities where technicians grind their own cutting tools to custom profiles. It is appropriate for use in standard tool holders and lantern-style post holders that accept 3/8-inch square or rectangular tool stock. WKE45 cobalt material performs well in interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials where standard M2 high-speed steel may wear prematurely.
Designed as a standard tool bit blank for use in tool holders and grinding setups that accept 3/8-inch wide rectangular high-speed steel stock on manual and CNC lathes and similar machine tools.
Tool bit blanks are ground to final geometry by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician using a bench grinder or surface grinder equipped with appropriate grinding wheels for high-speed steel. Ensure the grinding wheel is rated for cobalt HSS stock and that proper eye protection and dust controls are in place. Secure the blank firmly in the tool holder after grinding and verify clearance and rake angles before taking a cut. Follow shop-specific tooling procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines during setup.
