The SECO 17016594 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance, this tool delivers the durability needed for heavy roughing cuts. The mill features a 7/8 inch (0.8750 inch) cutting diameter, a 1-7/8 inch length of cut, and a 4-1/8 inch overall length. With 5 spiral flutes in a right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction, it efficiently evacuates chips during high-material-removal passes. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This roughing end mill is suited for general-purpose milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual knee mills. The 3/4 inch shank diameter fits standard ER and side-lock toolholders common in production environments. It is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry without a pre-drilled start hole. The 30-degree maximum helix angle and spiral flute geometry help reduce chatter and cutting forces during rough passes on steel, stainless, and similar alloys. Series REC700 from SECO is built for demanding roughing applications where tool life under load is a primary concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit roughing end mill for standard 3/4 inch bore toolholders used in vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, and manual knee mills performing roughing operations on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.
Installation is performed by machinists using a calibrated torque wrench and appropriate toolholder per the machine manufacturer specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked before changing tooling. Inspect the shank and bore for chips or contamination before seating the tool. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when setting tool length offsets and running first-pass cuts.
