The SECO 17016496 is a single-end ball end mill from the SPB540 series, designed for both roughing and finishing operations in demanding metalworking environments. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN via a PVD process, this tool delivers hardness and heat resistance suited for heavy-duty cutting cycles. It measures 1.5 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 4.5-inch overall length. The 6-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree medium helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. Licensed machinists and CNC operators rely on this end mill for high-feed contouring and 3D profiling work.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Its center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry, making it effective for slot milling, profile milling, and contour work in production and job-shop settings. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive engagement in standard end mill holders and reduces pullout risk during aggressive cuts. Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the Weldon flat fully against the setscrew in the tool holder before torquing to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the tool shank and holder bore for chips or burrs before seating. Do not exceed the machine spindle speed rating for the tool diameter and material combination being cut.
