The SECO 17016485 is a 4-flute cobalt ball end mill from the SPB540 series, designed for high-performance milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 1/8 inch cutting diameter and 3/8 inch length of cut make it well-suited for contour milling, profiling, and finishing passes in tight geometries. A TiCN (titanium carbonitride) PVD coating extends tool life by reducing friction and improving wear resistance. The 30-degree medium helix spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation and smooth cutting action across a broad range of workpiece materials. This tool is a single-end, right-hand cut design with a Weldon flat shank for secure tool holding.
This ball end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines in job shop, production, and maintenance environments. It is rated for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as ramp and contour operations. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators working on mold cavities, die components, and precision contoured surfaces are the primary users of this tool size and configuration.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous metals (N), and high-temperature alloys (S). Fits any standard 3/8 inch end mill holder or collet chuck accepting a Weldon flat shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked or e-stop state. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the holder and tighten the set screw against the flat to prevent axial pullout. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.0010 inch TIR maximum before commencing a cut. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting cutting parameters.
