The SECO 17016468 is a 2-inch diameter, 6-flute cobalt square end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN (titanium carbonitride), this tool delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation, and the centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. With a 4-inch length of cut and 6.5-inch overall length, it handles deep-pocket and long-reach milling operations. This is a short-series, single-end tool in the SPC408 series, intended for professional machining environments.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. It is commonly used in job shops, production machining, and tool rooms where a robust cobalt tool is preferred over carbide in interrupted-cut or vibration-prone setups. The 1.25-inch shank diameter seats in standard CAT, BT, or Weldon-style holders that accept that bore size. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute orientation is standard for conventional milling machine setups.

Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and undamaged before seating the end mill. Verify runout does not exceed the TIR maximum of 0.0010 inches after installation. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and coolant strategy when cutting high-temperature alloys or stainless steel.
